Insomniac Launches Metaverse Music Festivals with Unity

Metaverse Rave

The music festival scene has grown by leaps and bounds. We’ve always dreamed of an era when virtual raves become prevalent. Luckily the rise of Metaverse has inspired trailblazers to envision and construct a futuristic world that will revolutionalize pop culture and the music industry. Researchers have found that virtual concerts facilitated more social connection and the coronavirus pandemic has fostered more empathy between virtual concert goers.

Insomniac Events, the parent company of EDC Vegas has forged a partnership with trailblazing software developer Unity, a world-leading platform that creates immersive, real-time 3D content. Under the partnership, Unity helps Insomniac cultivate a metaverse world where ravers can immerse themselves in 3D music festivals or raves. It also represents another attempt by Unity to expand beyond games with its real-time 3D content (RT3D) and innovative softwares. The aim is to define a new standard of live entertainment. It is set to offer ravers and DJs an elevated, personalized, and gamified experience. Earlier this year, Warner Music also launched Concert Theme Park in conjunction with metaverse platform Sandbox.

“Imagine going to a concert with your friends from across the country – even if you are not physically in the same state. Envision meeting your favorite performer – and having a personal conversation. The fusion of the physical and virtual worlds, accelerated by the pandemic, is offering artists and fans an elevated, personalized and gamified experience and chance to connect.”

”Our vision is to create a social experience in which everyone is a headliner – where stories and music unite us in discovery, love, and a true sense of belonging. Unity is helping us create a world’s first experience for our community as we work together to deliver the next level of what the metaverse can be for entertainment and music.”

Peter Moore, senior vice president of sports and live entertainment at Unity offered a sneak peek into this new interactivity to live entertainment. Check out the presentation here. During an interview with VentureBeat’s “GamesBeat” vertical, Peter Moore claimed that not only are they building a virtual platform for Insomniac or EDC which will be their first festival, but they are also building a virtual platform for future concerts.
